Song written by Maedy, DJ Eddy de Clercq & Zorko
Maedy is the author of the book ‘Dans, theorie en praktijk voor het voortgezet onderwijs’ published by Lambo. ISBN: 978.94.6062.044.7
Maedy is an artist multitalented in many areas; she sings, writes, composes, arranges, choreographs and she is an inspiring dance teacher and vocal coach. Her versatility is to be found in her music & voice to which her sensitivity is the most characteristic. Varied by heart rendering ballads to passionate mid- and up- tempo’s her music is difficult to place to just one genre. It can be categorized as pop, jazzy, bluesy and more...
Her dance & vocal training varied from Amsterdam, Tilburg and New York. Starting at the tender age of 12 at the dance academy, she soon knew that not only just dance, but arts in a broader perspective would be her goal. Singing was, just like dancing, one of her first big loves. And why choose if you can do both? This is what defines her, throughout Maedy’s career, she gathers and collects different kind of arts to make it her own and combine all of these talents whenever she likes.
Maedy performed on stage as a solo artist but also hit the stage with various (theatre-)shows, and performed side by side onstage with Jan Akkerman, Tineke Postma and DJ Eddy the Clercq. Maedy was asked to sing and vocally arrange the soundtrack ‘Flowerbomb’, under leadership of ‘de Clercq’, for the international prêt-a-porter show of Viktor & Rolf, which coincided with the launch of their perfume ‘Flowerbomb’, during Paris fashion week 2004 in the gardens of the Louvre. The song was used for the campaign of the perfume and is still one of the most wanted ‘underground’ soundtrack, since it’s never commercially released.
Other successful cooperation’s include again with de Clercq, the soundtrack for the exclusive jewellery show “Passion” by Rodrigo Otazu & Gassan Diamonds, Andy Prinz for the loungy track “Freedom of the Storm”, and Dancehall Kings’ clubhit “Catch a faya”.
Critics praised her for her "beautiful, sometimes fairy-tales appearing songs". "A real performer" with an "extremely pure voice whether she’s whispering or reaching for the higher end of the scale". Maedy with her sensitivity & versatility has an enchanting overwhelming appearance in which appeals to the broader public.
